Seniors Christmas Party

On Friday 6th December, Three Ways Community Association hosted a very successful Seniors Christmas Party for residents and friends in the local area.

The night was filled with great hospitality, beverages, plenty of dancing and plenty of craic.

Cathy Keenan, Chairperson of Three Ways Community Association, thanked everyone for attending and wished them Christmas Greetings on behalf of Three Ways Community Association. Cathy also thanked the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Neighbourhood Renewal and Southern Health and Social Care Trust for providing funding to support the costs of running such initiatives.

Treated to a few sing-songs from Kathy McCaughey’s ‘Young at Hearts’ group, this fairly got everyone in the festive mood.  Such craic and entertainment from them all.

From the management of Three Ways Community Assocaition, our deepest thanks and appreciation to the following; Seamus McAteer and Staff of the Boulevard for the fantastic food and service with exceptional postive comments being made, Kieran Devine for providing the music allowing our seniors to have a wee boogie, NIHE, NR, SHSCT for the funding, NMDDC Chairperson Cllr Charlie Casey, Mickey Brady MP and Cllr Valerie Harte (also a committee member) and all of our volunteers for giving up their time on a Friday evening to deliver the event.

Lastly, well done and thank you to our hardworking commitee.  A lot of background work goes into planning events and our team excel each time to ensure that whatever the event, those attending enjoy and have a positive time.

TWYP Donates to Charities

Three Ways CA’s Youth raise fundamental funds for admirable local charities.

Three Ways Youth Project over recent weeks have delivered a number of fundraising initiatives as a way of ā€˜giving backā€™ for the support they have received from local funders and groups towards their personal and social development journey raising a fantastic Ā£764.00 for Macmillan Cancer and Cancer Fund for Children.

The project has been in existence for over 15 years and continually advances young people with new skill sets based on their needs have raised thousands of pounds over the years for local charities and causes and again have given back.

On Friday 7th June, the young people aged from 12-15 years old held a sponsored 16-hour sit in Three Ways Community Centre.  Over the 16 hours, the young people undertook a number of activities which has given them a new skill set directly supporting their informal education.  After the success of their sit in, the young people held a Coffee Morning on Saturday 6th July with all proceeds going directly to their two chosen charities.

On Wednesday 24th July, members of Three Ways Group accompanied by Chairperson of NMMDC, Councillor Charlie Casey and Three Ways Community Associations Chairperson, Cathy Keenan presented Aidan Carroll of Macmillan Cancer and Tanya Jackson of Cancer Fund for Children with the proceeds.
Amy Oā€™Gorman, Youth Project Facilitator said the young people as part of their programme wanted to coordinate fundraising initiatives to support local valuable charities.  ā€œAs part of the young peopleā€™s programme, they are encouraged to be active citizens and we were pleased when they decided they desired to give something back for the support they have received in particular from the Education Authority, Department for Communities and Newry, Mourne and Down District Councilā€.

Amy continued, ā€œTheir events were a major success and they are overwhelmed with the backing that they have received from the local community and local businesses who assisted in making these events a success.  Our young people selected these charities as the recipients for their efforts as they all agreed that these particular charities support those whom need it most at a time when families lives have been affected by cancer.  Our thanks to all those individuals who sponsored the young people, attended and donated at their coffee morning and to those local businesses including; Corn Dolly, Sunray and The Shelbourne bakeriesā€.

Cathy Keenan, Chairperson of Three Ways Community Association commended the young people for their efforts and acknowledged all those who have and continue to support the young people and the association.  ā€œOn behalf of Three Ways Community Association, I want to congratulate the young people for raising vital funds for charities.  We in Three Ways CA are proud that our young people always give back for the support they themselves have benefitted from and unreservedly agree they are a credit to their families and our community.  Three Ways CA send our appreciation and thanks to all those who supported the young people in anyway.  I have no doubt the funds donated to these instrumental charities will support those who need it most and we wish them all wellā€.

We in Three Ways Community Association were delighted to deliver the event and look forward to delivering further Tea Dances in the near future (funding permitted)

Three Ways Community Association wish to thank Seamus and his fantastic staff at The Boulevard for their service, the ladies serving etc are always on hand and deliver with sheer dedication.  Thanks also to Danny Doran, he had all those in attendance on the floor throughout the afternoon singing songs of their era.

Our biggest of thanks to our Committee Member and dear friend Patricia O’Gorman.  Patricia, week in, week out goes above and beyond to facilitate and coordinate our Senior Citziens Luncheon Club and events like today.  We really would be lost without her.
